The Project involved the conversion of The existing Anton House office accommodation to residential, The building, located in a conservation area, was regarded as a high quality building for both its vernacular and it’s setting.
Demolition of various extensions was carried out leaving the existing villa the dominant aspect of the development. A new extension to side was divorced visually by a glazed link element and of modern contemporary design incorporating a glazed upper floor. To the rear of the development 3No new build houses were incorporated.
The new build extension and houses utilised timber frame construction on strip foundation. The refurbishment and conversion of the existing villa involved significant structural alteration necessitating significant temporary works and new steel structures to be incorporated within the existing fabric. Significant underpinning was required due to altered loadpaths. The roof to the rear was reconstructed.
Externally roads and parking were designed informally within the existing landscape and SUDs features incorporated into the drainage design.
