The project consists of new single storey community use and school facility providing two new classrooms, double storey sports hall, fitness room, changing areas, youth club, library and all associated ancillary areas. A 4G sports pitch replaces an existing grass pitch within the development area.

The structure is formed from a hybrid of cross laminated timber and glulam frame and we were appointed by the specialist contractor to provide design services for these elements together with temporary stability and support requirements.

To mitigate against made ground, which was prevalent across the site, foundations consisted of trenchfill concrete with depths up to 1.5m below ground levels.

The civil engineering elements of the project consisted of proposed ground levels, car parking and drainage infrastructure associated with the new facility.

Minor works associated with the provision of temporary classroom accommodation, for the duration of the construction period, was incorporated into the scheme and carefully programmed (along with the tie in to the existing building) to minimise disruption to the existing school facility.
